Organizational Location:
This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Tucson Field Office, located in San Luis, AZ. This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to CBP management. This position starts at a salary of $76,721.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $118,603.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $118,603 (GS-13 Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:
Developing documents such as an official Project Development Request (PDR) describing projects in detail and also developing supplemental explanatory material justifying the requests. Serving as the CBP approving official for GSA Statements of Work (SOW) relating to CBP spaces, and signing off on the SOW prior to projects being advertised for bids. Developing program policies and recommending changes to internal procedures as required to meet workload demands. Serving as a troubleshooter overseeing and providing authoritative program guidance, as necessary, on issues in the areas of safety, security of facilities or technical system issues regarding problems predisposed to treatment by accepted methods. Developing the information needed to complete the PDR and supplemental explanatory material by interviewing managers, supervisors, employees, and other interests involved, plus conducting appropriate external research.
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Applying a wide range of administration concepts, laws, policies, practices and analytical/diagnostic methods Conducting evaluations on administrative functions Providing advice on a variety of administrative and management programs and procedures Performing liaison functions with other organizations, including effectively presenting the organization's needs and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts
Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Applying established practices to specific administrative problems which involve many variables Conducting independent evaluations on administrative functions and preparing study findings, recommendations, and reports Providing advice on a variety of administrative and management programs and procedures Making agreements and commitments at meetings and during telephone discussions in accordance with previously received functions Performing liaison functions with other organizations, including effectively presenting the organization's needs and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/19/2020. There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
